In 1918 Giovanni Tacconelli came to Philadelphia from Italy. After a few years working as a laborer, he decided to do what he had done in his native Italy. "Bake Bread". The best and only way, he said, was to bake it in a brick oven. So along with a few of his friends he built his 20' by 20' brick oven. The bread business went well until the outbreak of World War II when all of his sons who had helped him in the business were drafted into military service. Having no one to help and since the bread business was so very time consuming, he stopped baking bread. In 1946, still having the brick oven, Giovanni pondered over what to do with it since everyone had come home from the War and had different careers in mind. He decided to make tomato pies, something that his mother had taught him to do many years before. They were and still are tomato pies to our family consisting of fresh made dough, little cheese and a lot of sauce cooked in our brick oven to give it a crisp light taste. In 1992, we realized that our oven, which had given us 72 years of service, needed a face-lift. We never thought that was supposed to be a 3 month "project" would turn out to be a 7 month "nightmare". Thanks to your loyal patronage The Tacconelli family, now in its 5th generation, is still baking tomato pies the Giovanni Tacconelli way. Please keep in mind we are a one-man, one-oven operation. Waiting time may vary. Please be assured each pie is made fresh and to order.

They have gotten their well deserved reputation by never compromising on quality
Best pizza EVER! My favorite!
Tacconelli's is the best pizza place I've ever been to. It's totally different than anything you've ever had and the signature pie with Tomato, Spinach and Sausage is to die for! I've been going to Tacconelli's since I was 5 years old -- I used to go with my father every Wednesday after swimming and 20 years later, my husband and I drive from our house in LBI to enjoy the consistently amazing pie! We love you guys!! Vote for Tacconelli's.... they define "Incredible Pizza!"
That 2nd generation Italian crafted brick-oven and their commitment to detail.
Pizza is the best service sucks though, but the pizza is that good I go back:)
Best pizza I've had ever
Friday night pizza from Tacconelli's has become a tradition for my family. If we try to switch things up my three year old son says, "No! I want Tacconelli's!" My one year old is also addicted. The staff is friendly, the sauce is delicious, and you can't go wrong with any of their pizza choices.
I have been eating Tacconelli's since I was a little girl. I don't think there is a better piece of pizza anywhere in the world! I love their brick oven pizza and the sauce is out of this world!
Absolutely, hands down, the best! Wish they would open a store in North Wildwood NJ. They would clean up!
Oh my God! The pizza is great and the crust is thin, You just can't eat one slice.... You have to eat a whole pie!
Tacconelli's has excellent pizza.
Born and raised in S. Philly I catch a great deal when I want to go to Tacconelli's for Pizza because it is hands down the best cooked, best tasting pizza in Philly.
Simply the best pizza in Philly!
I always thought that the "ordering of your dough in advance" was just a gimic, but we tried it, and guess what? To my surprise, it was the best pizza I ever ate. And now when I eat pizza, Tacconelli's is the one I compare it to.
Everyone else is just wasting their time. PERFECTION.
It's amazing.
Because their crust is so thin and it's not real doughy.
The white pizza is the BEST. It's a fun place to go to. You meet all your all friends.
By far the best, no one even comes close.
