Scannicchio’s opened August first 2003. Chef owner Christian Varalli and partner Mike Gibson, opened this sister restaurant to the one in Atlantic City that has been owned and operated by the Varalli family for over 30 years. Christian and Mike have been lifelong friends and have dreamed of owning their own restaurant. As soon as you walk in you'll notice the cozy ambiance and the friendliness of all those who work there.

Have been going to Scannicdhios for years! My wife and I celebrate all of our birthdays there and when my daughter and family come in from SF Bay area, we always go there for a festive family meal. Mark and staff are great. Look forward to many more years of dining at Scannicchios.
The food is the best Italian I have had outside of Italy itself, and the staff are the nicest people ever. Once, when calling for a large group, they didn't have enough room at the time we wanted, so we agreed to go a little later, with fewer people. They called back to say they had changed some tables around so they could get us in at the time we wanted. Then they called again to say that they had moved some more things around to get as many people we wanted. I've never had more helpful and kind restaurateurs!
The restaurant is great. The food is amazing and the people make the place. Definitely one of the best secrets of South Philadelphia!

On a visit from Ireland, I inquired at our hotel where could I find an authentic Italian Restaurant, I was pointed in the direction of Schannichios, and I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed in any way. Fine Food, Fine Wine, and very friendly staff. 10/10 for experience

They have the absolute best Italian food in the city, but besides that the staff is wonderful. You feel like you are family from the moment you walk in. I never go any place else anymore and believe me I have tried them all.
Great food, tastefully prepared and the Lemonchello is a wonderful finishing touch!

We had the pleasure of eating at Scannicchios when we were out on vacation last October. The food and service were excellent. We were treated like family. We would definitely make a point of eating at Scannicchios when we return for vacations.
