We are located at the heart of Penn's Campus, on Chestnut Street at 36th. At Pizza Rustica we pride ouselves on the authenticity of our homemade Italian cuisine. Yep, we still have the wood burning oven, and our dough is made fresh daily right here in the restaurant. We never use prepared doughs or sauces, artificial colors or flavors. We personally shop every day for our ingredients so we can afford to serve our customers only the freshest and finest quality homemade dishes. Our unusual partnership (ten short years) and our diverse ethnic backgrounds (I'm south-philly I-talian, and we're not quite sure what Viru is yet, although he has resided so far on three continents!) helps us to add some quirky South Asian flair and old world techniques to achieve some of our rustic dishes. If you can't tell by now, we just think our Pizza Rustica is the greatest place in the city, but then so does our family who can't seem to leave. What more could you want from life, great food, wonderful family, a warm homey atmosphere - most of our customers consider this their 'second home', and we consider all of them family too. So come join the family for a gourmet pizza, a hearty serving of Mom's Lasagne, or one of our new Rusty Burgers. Don't forget the campus favorites - our popular artichoke dip or homemade gelato.... and please forgive us for the music, the girls like country and we still like jazz and contemporary stuff, but we might let you have the remote to our 42" plasma to watch the game, or your favorite show! Like I said, at Rustica, you can kick back relax and make yourself at home.
(P.S. Don't mind all the hollering, after all you would expect that in any 'normal' Italian home...)

Pizza rustica rocks! The Mozzarella Caprese is awesome........I have to say the best thing about Rustica is that everything has an added flair to it. For example, rock candy sugar for your espresso, and a unique olive oil (i think) based veggie slaw, which is a nice change of pace form your average mushy coleslaw normally paired with a sandwich.
You are the best place for great food. With great food, atmosphere and people.

The pizza is great, nice thin crispy crust. The bar is a must! Nothing goes better with pizza than a tall cold BUD. The day bartender just makes your experience at Pizza Rustica that much more entertaining, thanks Jenna! Ask about the drink of the day!!
I'm in from out of town and stopped by there for a quick bite with my daughter. The food was fantastic and the staff was very friendly. I intend to dine here next time I am town.
