Forget 2nd Street...More like 2nd rate.
We have eaten at many Indian places both in
Philly and around the area.
For price, freashness, and consistantly great Indian food, New Deli is excellent.
We work right next door, and have eaten there literally over 100 times.
Never was the food under par, and the servers are very nice as well.
Once you try New Deli, you will wonder how some of the "Sanjay come latelies"
even call themselves Indian. Shapsjo.

The other individual who commented clearly does not know what he is talking about because the Indian restaurants in Old City are unauthentic and extremely overpriced. New Delhi is absolutely the best. I have been eating there for 8 years now (ever since I was an undergrad at Penn), and it has always been my husband (who is of Indian descent) and my favorite Indian restaurant in Philly. Their buffet is a great deal---the food is always delicious and freshly prepared, with many different options; they also offer free delivery to many neighborhoods in Center City. I highly, highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who can recognize good, authentic Indian food and isn't sucked in by the trendy decor and atmosphere of places like Cafe Spice.
