McGillin’s Olde Ale House threw open its doors the year Lincoln was elected president. McGillin’s beer taps have been flowing since 1860 -- making it the oldest continuously operating tavern in Philadelphia. And the best! It has outlasted Strawbridge’s, the Civil War and even Prohibition. What’s the secret? McGillin’s has become just like the fictional “Cheers”- a great Irish pub with comradery, good food at a reasonable price and, of course, the best selection of local and regional beers on tap.

Although it doesn't belong sequestered into the Irish Pub category, McGillin's still gets my vote. It's so much more than an Irish Pub. Truly the best and most interesting place to catch a Phils, Flyers, Eagles or Sixers game - with a lot of players visiting the bar after the games. Great golf crowd on Saturday afternoons. Tremendous beer selection as well.

McGillin's has a wide variety in its menu and its taps, the quality of food and drink are first rate and the prices are very reasonable. Chris is the most personable innkeeper I have ever met.
I used to be in the bar business so I can attest to the fine standards of McGillin's. I have parties
there regularly and bring out-of-town friends
to McGillin's for a great time.
