Maxercise is both a mixed martial arts training academy and sports fitness gym located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. It is not only dedicated to teaching its students a variety of martial arts, but is also committed to assisting the Philadelphia community in achieving their fitness and healthier lifestyle goals. The first academy to bring Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to the East Coast, Maxercise offers students some of the highest quality instructors and training. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling martial art which teaches that a smaller and presumably weaker person, when using the right technique, can defend themselves against a larger, stronger attacker and force them to submit. Maxercise is also the first academy to invite black belt instructors from Brazil, such as Regis Lebre, to teach. Classes are offered throughout the day, six days a week. In addition to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Maxercise is also the home of The Philadelphia Judo Club. Established in 1948,the Philadelphia Judo Club was the first martial arts academy in Philadelphia. The Club has had a long standing relationship with Maxercise, with many students cross training in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo.

Simple: no-nonsense workouts with great instruction. They have the best Russian kettle bell workouts in the area.

A great school to learn BJJ and MMA. Working with qualified black belts and reasonable prices make for a stress free experience.

Maxercise is NOT a respectful place to train. Regis is a raging egomaniac who makes the students feel bad about themselves. D.C. is really cool though.

The instructors are the friendliest and most knowledgeable that I have encountered. This is the most enjoyable and the most effective club to train at in Philadelphia.

Great place to train! The trainers are all experts and highly motivated. The kettle bell classes are the best! 30 minutes, and you get your cardio and weight routine all in one! Great (and fun) way to reshape your body!

I apologize for the problems you may have encountered at Maxercise in the past. It is apparent that you have not been in the loop for a while. Steve and DC are not the owners any longer, I am. Regardless of your opinions, you are always welcome at Maxercise. I would welcome the opportunity to change your perception of my facility.

As far as the previous owners are concerned, regardless of your personal feeling towards them, they brought Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to Philadelphia. For that all other practioners in the area, teachers and students alike, should be thankful, including you.

Respectfully,

John J. Disimone, III

Steve & DC both phony a-holes! They have made enemies with all former instructors. They are loyal to no one. Students eventually leave for better training.
