I love the biergarten atmosphere in the room to the left of the entrance. I'm not crazy about the dingy, cramped bar to the right. I was also surprised to see that not a single authentic German works there (at least not the last time I was there, or any of the times before that). But the food is decent, especially the bread (available at the Metropolitan Bakery) and spicy mustard sauce. But the beer selection is what this is all about, and anytime the words "German" and "beer" are together in the same sentence, you know good things are in store.

Great food and atmosphere. Best beer in the city. Highly recommended.

I love the way they choose the beers for the seasons...nice wheats and pils in the hot weather to cool you off and nice darks in the winter to warm you up....and always a few surprises thrown in for good measure.
