The Hiway Theatre has been an important cultural landmark for the Jenkintown area since it opened in 1913. The theatre now operates as a member supported, community theatre with the mission to foster community through offering a unique cinematic experience that enlivens the human spirit, fosters dialogue and promotes learning in an unparalleled environment. The theatre has undergone a renovation, which blends new interior finishes with some original fixtures to achieve the look and feel of a retro movie house, complete with new seating for the auditorium, new projection and sound equipment and an expansion of the lobby. As a movie house that can trace its history to the silent era, the Hiway is unique as it is one of the few one-screen theatres that primarily carries first run films in addition to providing special programming and monthly film discussions. More information on the history of the theatre and its Reel to Real Campaign can be found at www.hiwaytheatre.org.

This is a very fine theater for our community. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the films shown are excellent, better than what you generally would see at the mall theaters.

I have wonderful memories of the Hiway Theatre from when I was a little girl, as does my mother who worked there selling tickets when she was a teenager!!!!! It is great to now be building happy memories as an adult too! By the way, they have the best double seats you can share with you favorite loved one....very comfy! Thanks Hiway and thanks to the people who made this huge restoration a huge success!!!!!

This is the best theatre one can go to. It is always so nice and clean. People have a tendancy of being very quite in this theatre while the movie is playing. I have been going to this theater ever since I was a little girl and still visit/attend the theatre. My children love it!!!

Congratulations Hiway Theater on a job well done!

Over the past seven years, I have seen numerous movies at the Hiway. Last evening, I had the distinct pleasure of viewing “Mama Mia” - a delightful musical comedy with heart. The quality of the Hiway’s film experience always makes for most enjoyable evenings. Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of the high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution of people working together towards common goals.

I appreciate the Hiway’s commitment to excellence.

Comfortable, modern and beautifully renovated but true to the era of "old time" theaters - when it was an event to see a movie. Great movies, great architecture, great seating and wonderfully intimate!

They are the BEST business in town. and what I also like is that they only show good movies, not all the new and cheesy ones, They recently had a series of Alfred Hitchcock films.

Beautifully renovated with wonderful support from the entire Jenkintown and surrounding areas, and they show films you often cannot see at the big movie megaplexes.
