Bikram Yoga is a series of 24 hatha yoga postures and 2 breathing exercises. These 26 postures treat every muscle, nerve and cell in the body. The postures are performance in the same order each class with increasing precision (to each students ability). The 90 minute class is taught in a room heated to 105 degrees in order to enhance the stretching, balancing, and strengthening of the body's circulatory, digestive, endocrine, nervous, and immune systems. The heat assists in cleansing the body of toxins, regenerating the cells, and loosening the muscles, tendons, and ligaments to safely stretch. Practicing in the heat can also bring greater mental clarity, self-control and concentration. One will use the mind to strengthen the body and the body to strengthen the mind.

Bikrm Philly has truly been life changing. I've been able to push myself past what I thought were my own personal limits and I've learned to appreciate the small victories (holding a pose for the entire time, sitting complete Japanese style, not getting dizzy!). Thanks to all the instructors, particularly Sandy who will not hesitate to fix you when you go astray.

I started to distress myself, and this is the best way. The whole experience along with the class itself is very sooting....the instructors are very helpful and will make sure your form is correct. They will also push you when you think you're not ready, but they can see that you are.

The stained glass makes it heavenly ... it feels like a massage - a workout - a sauna - a steam room and a chiropractic adjustment all in one! The teachers are amazingly well trained and the owner is a quirky genius!

This is the best, and for me, the only yoga studio in the city. Forget about slaving over the elliptical or stairmaster machine while spaced out with your Ipod. This is a grueling, 90 minute sweat-fest where you must be present, mind and body. I have been practicing for 5 years, and I will never go back to running or mindless workouts at the gym. This will improve your strength, flexibility, and even give you a cardio workout. Oh yeah, and if you practice regularly, your body will be incredibly toned and slim. The teachers are some of the best Bikram teachers in the whole country. Special kudos to Joel, Sandy, Byron, James and Chris.

Variety is the spice of life and Bikram Yoga Philadelphia sure has variety. Although the yoga practice consists of the same 26 postures, the Bikram studio has a dozen certified instructors that all bring their own unique style that I'm sure will keep me coming back for years to come.

I have started yoga with the help of my friend, Michelle Mathews, who suggested me to this intense and very well designed yoga. Initially I was very tired and felt dizzy and could not make up my mind if I should attend classes continuously, but finally I completed 3 months of classes (average 4 classes/week). Being an Indian I was able to really understand the inner meaning of Yoga and its benefits and I was able to release my inner energy and what my mind and soul can do and achieve. I am proud to say that I have lost 44 pounds in 3-4 months with this 'Hot' Yoga and currently I weigh 200 lbs. Along with this yoga, proper diet and occasional exercise helped me build strength and stamina. The place is amazing and the teachers are always helping. Special thanks to Byron, Joel, Emily and Chris for pushing my limits and plan to continue attending yoga classes. This yoga is not just for losing body weight, it will help define and regulate your mental thinking and makes you stronger within your soul. I recommend this to anyone and everyone who is willing to make a change in their lives. Good Luck!

Bikram takes the "yawn" out of yoga. They applied the unique spin of adding
100 degrees to the studio classes. Five days straight of Bikram and you lose 10 pounds of water content Pronto!
