All I can say if this camp ground is the best in New Jersey, than I would hate to see New Jersey’s WORSE!!
I've been camping for many a year and I have never been to camp ground that is in obvious need of work than this one!. One of the main issues I experienced was the roads. They are not marked or clearly identified to find your camp site. Which also lack identification them selves.
.
While on subject of roads they are in need of attention for today’s campers. The nice trees have branches hanging way to low and drag across the campers. While backing into our site one of these branches caught my campers awning and ripped it apart!

While on subject of camp site, I must say it was shady, water hook up was decent, the TV channels were really decent ( as long as you had 50 ft extension) the drain was terrible for the gray water had to keep an eye so not to overflow ! As for the 30 amp service it is need of service
We visited the pool, very nice, clean and the life guard has the nicest reading material available upon request right by her.
Overall the camp ground, to me needs much attention for those visitor to New Jersey. Those folks who have permanent sites, I’m sure they enjoy it. But I know my trips
To the BAKERS, are done.

People ask about the problem of racism. The greatest problem that confronts the people now a days is a national problem. Whether this nation is a great enough to live up to its own convictions, carrying out its own declaration of independence, and execute the provisions of its own constitution. Racism is something that you would never want your children to be exposed to. Unfortunately my family and I were not able to avoid our children being exposed to this very humiliating and unfortunate behavior.

Over the weekend my family and friends decided to go camping. This camping experience as many others we have had was supposed to be one of relaxation, unity and most of all fun. For weeks we research different campgrounds in the northeast and found extremely great reviews of a campground in little egg harbor, new jersey called Baker’s Acres.

We were all excited and really looking forward on spending 4 days at Baker’s Acres. As soon as we got to the campground our excitement started to disappear. The first problem that we confronted was that the staff at Baker’s Acres are not too excited on having large families. We had reserved 3 sites to accommodate our family size and requested that we be located in the same area. The first thing that we were told was that we could not make any noise. They gave us our site and we had to request to be relocated because we were not able to park out cars because the site barely fit out tents. We had to change from electric and water to only a water site. This was fine with us because the site was bigger and accommodated our family better. There was just one problem with the site. Camping means being in the woods with trees and brushes. We had this but the problem was that we were about 5 feet from the main street and across the street from a residential neighborhood not our idea of camping. Still and all we adjusted to the situation in the effort of making a great experience for the children.

The first night we had roasting marshmallows and telling stories. A campground attendant came over to us and told that we needed to turn off the music and lower our voices. We turned off the music and lower our voices to a level where we were still able to hear one another. This still was not good enough for the staff because there were elderly neighbors outside the campground and they did not like having any noise as it disturbed them. We were focused to go to sleep at 11:30 pm. The following day were went to the pool. The children were playing and the pool attendant told them that they could not be need the rope line . This was fine as long as it applied to all. Unfortunately it didn’t as other children were allowed to play need the rope and hold on to it without being told that they couldn’t. At this point the children felt uncomfortable because everything that they wanted to do the attendant would call them on it. In the play yard the children were playing near the swings. One of the other camp goers child left their bike near the swing and the father told him to get his bike because the children were going to steal the bike. Every day and night there was always something that made our experience at Baker’s Acres a nightmare. The last night a camp attendant came to our site at 10:30 pm and told us to stop making noise. When we informed them that quite didn’t start until 11:00pm we told that we had to options the first one was to lower our voices and whisper or to leave. As you can imagine we had 8 children between the ages of 7 to 14 we were not going to pack everything at that time to leave in the middle of night for a 3 hour drive back home. The entire night we had a staff attendant at our site watching what we were doing. Uncalled for.

The problem exist that if there are rules the rules should apply for all not just for one group. I have been to several campgrounds in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This was the first time that we were the only Hispanic family on the site. This campground is not a place which is Multiethnic or culture. Our family members are all hard working individuals who wanted to take time for the family away from the city. We are all educated professionals teachers, social workers, office managers and business owners who understand the importance of people skills and learning to deal with different situations in our work and personal live. The problem consist when our children who we are raising to be the best that they can be are put in a situation which hurts their self esteem. That is something that no parent can tolerate.

The reason why I write this review is because even the most blatant bigots, when made aware of their racism, can change. I hope that what my children had to experience no other child would have to experience because the staff of Baker’s Acres are now made aware that children at their campground felt racism and change their way of dealing with people.
Remember one thing, Lets suppose God is of a racism other than the one we think he is? What if we go to Heaven and we, all our lives, have treated the other race as an inferior, and God is there, and we look up and He is not the race we thought but the race we thought as inferior? What then is our response?

There is only one race and that is the human race. We will all one day be parents or have children look up to us let us not teach them hatred but love.

We have been here for 8 yrs now and LOVE it! We looked around first and found this to be the best campground by far! The activities are great as well as the staff who are very nice friendly & helpful.
We have made many wonderful friends and still continue to make more! It’s so nice when you walk by someone’s campsite and are asked in to sit around for some s'mores and when you leave, you left knowing you gained another friendship! As far as the bathrooms, I have always found them clean, once I encountered some girls throwing paper around and having a ball. I'm sure if I didn't walk in at that time, it would have been left a mess! I can pretty much be assured the staff doesn't make the mess in the bathrooms, So to me it does take a village, and we should respect our fellow campers and clean up after ourselves and leave it nice for all to enjoy.
We consider BAC our little piece HEAVEN, and hope to be here for a long time so our grandchildren can experience the wonderful times we are having! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Having grown up in a camping family that's traveled the North - South - East & West of this Country, I know what makes a great campground and Baker’s Acre’s fits that bill!

What makes a great campground? Things like the size of a campsite, the flora & fauna, people – both workers & other campers, activities and area attractions. But let’s not forget to mention family friendly atmosphere and a safe environment. Baker’s Acre’s has it all!!

Because John & Anne Baker were campers first, (not some franchise or big money business), they created a campground taking all the good things they liked in other campgrounds and were careful not to duplicate the things they didn't like. Baker's Acres has found a winning combination.

Being mindful of not cutting trees or shrubs unnecessarily allows Baker’s Acre’s to have a park like appearance. And the campers – well they make their little bit of Baker’s Acre’s their home away from home by personalizing their campsites in some very unique ways.

Nestled in a nicely wooded area close to the Atlantic Ocean, near Long Beach Island and Atlantic City, Baker’s Acre’s makes it easy to spend the day basking in the sun & then by the firelight at night. There are busy times & quiet times, quiet hour being strictly enforced.

Every month brings s special celebration but my favorite is the Pig Roast in September as the campground winds down another busy year.

As with anything, there will always be distracters but they are far & few between. As one reviewer wrote perhaps they were disgruntled because they were asked to leave. Baker’s Acre’s guards their reputation fiercely, and when push comes to shove have asked unruly patrons to leave, making Baker’s Acre’s truly a family fun environment to spend some quality time with your family & with Mother Nature. Enjoy! See you around the campfire!!!

After shopping around for the right place I just became a new seasonal at the Bakers Acres campground last year, and to be frank about it, I did not know really anything about the camping trailer I just bought. I saw one of the workers drive by on one of the golf carts they use and asked him for some information about it. Not only did he point me in the right direction, but he took the time to show me how to operate everything. Thanks to the staff I've been having a great camping experience.

Now we just need to get them to get the quiet hour changed! Having them come around at 11 is too early! They need to take a break.

Thanks guys
- Jake

Bakers Acres is a wonderful place to bring your family for a Jersey Shore vacation. This campground has a very comfortable environment and is family run. The owners live on premises and are very nice people that are dedicated to their customers 24/7. They have fun activities that target all age groups and are always keeping the campers best interests in mind. Pool nights, karaoke, bingo, arts and crafts, there are always fun filled events taking place there. I will always camp at bakers acres, its a place to make memories and grow old with friends!

We have camped at BAC for the last 26 years. The family is dedicated to providing a clean, safe and enjoyable get away. We have seen several generations returning and bringing their children to a place where they can be kids and enjoy the freedom of this environment. We have met a lot of good people, both seasonals and transients, who have become close friends. We look forward to starting a new season, seeing our friends and making new friends.

Best campground at the Jersey Shore for SURE! we've done ALOT of camping, not only in Jersey but other states as well. It would be hard to find any campground that we enjoy more. Camping at BAC will defintely be a positive experience because it is a family campground with family values. There aren't many places like this left around to enjoy! Private sites with beautiful Laural, pool to cool off in, and a play ground the kids love. My personal favorite is to sit and relax with family and friends around a campfire in the evening, can't tell you how many nites we sat and visited and laughed and had a great time! And if you forget to pack something....don't worry about it...just walk up to the camp store...seriously, they've got everything! I would highly reccomend BAC to anyone looking to have a great camping experience.

i'm glad to see that someone is sticking up for baker's acres. my parents and i have been camping since i was 4 and we've been all over. there are a lot of nice campgrounds in nj and pa that we've been to. i love bakers acres and i think that the employees have always been really nice to us. i've never seen them be mean to anyone even when i saw a guy being rude to the owner she wasnt rude back. i'm 23 now and i'm brining my own kid with me camping. we still go all over but i will always love bakers acres and i think that they are one of the nicest campgrounds around not just the 'jersey shore'. if you read these comments and think that the employees are 'rude'...maybe think of who these people are that are leaving the comments compared to how many nice comments there are. maybe these people are just being spiteful.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinions and I am not saying the person below is wrong, but I've been bringing my grandchildren to Baker's Acres since they were both two and three and now they are 7 and 8. I have always felt completely safe with them there and they have always loved going with NO complaints about the other kids. They actually make new friends every time they go to the playground. We do weekend trips so they take part in the arts and crafts and whatever activity is going on. My favorite thing to do is bingo...they love kids day during the 4th.
