The Al Gold Photography Gallery is a rotating photography exhibit that is dedicated to presenting various culturally inclusive exhibitions depicting Atlantic City history.
Al Gold was born in Philadelphia in 1902 and came to Atlantic City for his health. His foray in photography began in 1921 when he photographed the first Miss America pageant. His photographic skills became widely known and in 1939 he was appointed Atlantic City's first Chief Photographer, a post he held until his death in 1964. "Goldie," as he was affectionately known by all was one of the most popular news photographers in the East. Seen here with local lovelies Peggy

The Garden Pier offers The Atlantic City Historical Museum and the Atlantic City Art Center, both are free and gladly accept donations! There is free parking accross the boardwalk in a dirt lot. It is located on the boardwalk at New Jersey Avenue - next to Showboat. It is a nice respite from the casino & boardwalk crowds and escape from the heat/cold [depending on time of year] of the boardwalk/beach. Give yourself some time to take in the 20 minute movie presentation in the Atlantic City Historical Museum. The Art Center offers displays of local artists' works and they change periodically. The pier includes a 3-tiered fountain that runs in warm months. This is one of the great things to do other than visiting the casinos while visiting Atlantic City.
